Ganon's Tower

Zelda: Gaiden

Now that Zelda: Gaiden has been confirmed in the United States, and some screenshots are available, I have come to some conclusions about the game. Zelda: Gaiden will have entirely new dungeons, instead of re-using the dungeons in Zelda 64, or only slightly modifying them. There will probably be the same number of dungeons in Zelda: Gaiden as there are in Zelda 64, with equal complexity. Zelda: Gaiden will also either have an entirely new overworld, or the existing overworld will be expanded upon. I would not be surprised to see some different races that Link can encounter in the game in addition to the ones in Zelda 64. In addition to the new dungeons and overworld, there will be different enemies in Zelda: Gaiden in addition to some returning monsters from Zelda 64.

Some things that haven't been confirmed in Zelda: Gaiden, but are a definite possibility are more enemies to fight in the overworld. Really the only thing that I thought could have been improved in Zelda 64 was that in Hyrule Field and other areas of the overworld, there really were not very many enemies for Link to fight. When Link did run into an enemy, it was very easy just to run away. Hopefully Zelda: Gaiden will return to the style that Zelda 1-3 had where there's usually so many enemies on the screen at the same time, it's a challenge to avoid them, and usually you have no choice but to fight. Another question about Zelda: Gaiden is the plot. What I would like to see is a plot like Zelda III: A Link to the past, where you fight some boss (like Agahnim), and think the game's over, but then it turns out you have to defeat Ganon and get the triforce. Unless this game is set earlier than Zelda 64, I'd be surprised if the triforce wasn't in it. Another thing that probably will be in the game, but hasn't been confirmed are new items (and weapons). I'd kind of like to see the medallions from A Link to the Past return, since it'd be a lot of fun to play with those in 3D. I guess for now we'll just have to wait for spaceworld to see what Zelda: Gaiden is really like.
