12/6 Update Revolution Power, Launch Window and More! More information about Nintendo Revolution is starting to float around. First off, there have been a few reports on the power of the system. The CPU and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) are basically extensions of the ones used in Gamecube, but twice as fast. Since Nintendo is not trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft by making Revolution geared towards HDTV's, this will still be adequate power. One developer said the system is basically "a souped up XBox" power wise. The discs will have a 4.7 GB capacity, or 8.5 GB when using a double layer format. This is a huge increase over the 1.5 GB discs that Gamecube used, and should easily be enough to store games without needing multiple discs. The system more than likely will launch at $149.99, but it isn't impossible that it will be $99.99, either of which would be considerably less than Sony and Microsoft's launch prices. In addition the system will most likely be released around the week of Thanksgiving, 2006. Ganon's Tower will continue to bring you the latest information on Nintendo Revolution as it becomes available. Source: IGN |
