The Valiant Death
He had been fighting Ganondorf for the past few hours, and his efforts were as nothing. All of his strength put into a single blow didn't even seem to affect the male Gerudo. Link cursed silently under his breath, hoping with all of his might that Ganondorf would either give in or die. Ganondorf let out a laugh as Link made one last move. "Ha-Ha! Is that the best you can do?" Ganondorf was making him out as a fool, a meek young Hylian. Link leaped to his feet and delivered a few more blows with his sword, and threw a bomb, but Ganondorf didn't seem affected. Link pulled out his bow, and reached for his Light Arrows, but Ganon quickly dumped them off the cliff. Link was pretty much out of luck. "You won't be fighting much longer, pretty soon you'll be dead," Ganondorf punched the boy square between the eyes, and Link fell. He was still going, though, very weakly but not yet out. Ganondorf grabbed Link's sword from his hand, and did the unthinkable. Link found himself cringing, and wincing in pain from the ruthless blow to his stomach. Link let out a cry of pain, and lay there rolling around on the ground, trying to ease the pain. A million thoughts raced through his young mind. Thoughts of his beloved girlfriend Zelda, of his friends, of Saria, Malon, of Nabooru, of Ruto... Link couldn't die. He had to keep going! There was no way he could lose, with all of his experience! He made a valiant jump and shoved Ganondorf off the cliff with the last of his breath. But Ganondorf hadn't died. He jumped back up after grabbing onto a rock. He drew his sword back, and plunged it into Link's chest. Link screamed, a long, loud, piercing scream of pain and agony. Epona, who had been standing and watching the two fight, neighed loudly. Link looked back at Epona, and then at Ganondorf, and his body froze. Ganon kicked the boy hard enough to break some ribs in the chest, and found he was dead. Ganondorf knew he couldn't leave the body there, and was beginning to feel just a tiny ounce of sympathy and guilt for the boy. "Such a young man and now his life is already over..." Ganondorf pulled the sword out of his chest, and decided just to leave the body there. He ignored the horse, and rode off on his Black Gerudo Stallion. "Where's Link?" Thought Zelda that night. He promised he'd be back soon after he killed Ganondorf. The hours passed, and she soon went to bed. She had a chillingly scary dream. It was dark all around. She was standing in the center of the room, and the room was round. A young man was chained to the wall, and a blindfold was over his eyes. "Zelda? Zelda, is that you? Help me!" She recognized this figure as Link, and tried to go to him, but she couldn't move, only watch as he pined away in love and loneliness. She rose from her bed, quite frightened of this. Where was Link, why wasn't he back? But it didn't take long for her questions to be answered. Zelda woke early in the morning. The King had tear-stained eyes, and everyone else was either crying or trying to get rid of the redness in their eyes. She looked at them confusedly. "What's up with all of you?" Impa sobbed louder than them all. "Zelda, please sit down, there is something you will take harder than the rest of us have." Zelda sat down, kind of not wanting to hear what Impa was about to say because she knew that it was something bad. "Zelda, you know how Link went to kill Ganondorf? Well, this morning the Goron race found his body. Zelda, he's dead....I'm sorry." Zelda leaped up, and looked at all of the others in the room slowly, and gave them all a horrified and shocked look. "NO! Link is alive! He's in his little house in Kokiri Forest!" Zelda ran out of the Castle, and no one bothered to go after her. She had been sitting on Link's bed
for the past few hours now. Her eyes were tear-stained and she felt a deep,
hollow feeling in her chest. How could she live without him? Ganondorf...she
thought. Ooh, how she would love to get her hands on him and show him what death
felt like! He had taken her precious, precious boyfriend from her. She would
have married him, if it hadn't been for Ganondorf. She lay on his bed for a
while, hugging the sheets on top of it. Link had once slept here. She moved over
to his dresser and pulled out a clean tunic, and hugged that also. It was hard
to believe that he was really gone. But she couldn't. Link haunted her dreams. But, Impa would have suspicions if she didn't, so she laid gently on her bed, and was happy that Link didn't make any noise, but he was pushing the bed up. Impa left, and returned a few moments later with some medicine. "Here, dear." Zelda opened her mouth reluctantly, and at the last moment she was ready to say she wasn't sick, but it was too late. She swallowed it, although it tasted very bad. Link let out another sneeze accidentally, and Zelda cupped her hands over her face quickly to pretend she had sneezed. "Oh, yes, Princess Zelda, you seem to be taking Link's death pretty well," Impa tried to smile. "Yeah, I just realized that he'll always be with me even though he's in Heaven, but I still miss him." Impa nodded understandingly. "Well, Princess Zelda, the priest discovered that Link's casket was bursted open, and his body is gone." Zelda's mouth gapped open with fake shock. She was becoming more uneasy as the conversation went along. "I'm tired, Impa." She replied, hinting that she wanted her to go away, but not in such a cruel way. "Okay, Okay, I'll leave you to your rest." Impa left the room and closed the door gently. Link crawled out from underneath the bed and sneezed again. "Those dust bunnies, I tell ya..." he mumbled, and Zelda started giggling. But they couldn't just be lazy and not get to the point. He sat on the bed and they discussed again. Zelda was feeling a bit drowsy from the medicine, but she managed to stay awake. "I don't know if Just You and me can kill him on our own. We'll need the Sages." Link knew, and he remembered the seal. "But, he broke it this time. Is it possible for the Sages to make a
stronger seal?" "A big ice cube? But seriously, Zel..." "I guess that's a good idea, lets go, we have no time to waste!" Link grabbed his cloak and threw it over his head. Zelda was already dressed, and they journeyed out of the Castle, and the guards gave them a funny look. "Princess Zelda, why are you going with a total stranger?" "O! He's not a stranger! I actually know him very well!" She
grinned, and they rode off to find the mystical being. "It goes ta Kokiri Island," he said, pronouncing to the wrong way. "Kokiri Island? It must be owned by my father...a newly discovered island! I believe that that's where the Sage is!" Zelda paid the young man, and she and the cloaked Link boarded the ship, and in a half hour, they were on the island, all alone. Snow covered the whole island. Snow hadn't come to Hyrule yet. "She has to be here somewhere..." Link started searching, and found a block of ice. "Lets melt it!" He cried. They did, but were disappointed to find that nothing was in the big, block of ice. Soon Zelda found another, and they melted it. Tada! A girl appeared! "Flie un duche?" She asked, eyeing them suspiciously. "Uh, what?" Asked Link. "She's speaking Ancient Hylian. She asked us where she was. Te doo olo onte Kokireto Isladana." "Please translate that for me, Zel. You know I don't study Ancient Hylian," he grumbled. "I told here that she was on Kokiri Island." "Oh, un moche." The girl replied, which meant "Oh, I understand." "Youla mutasta grinato usey," Zelda spoke to the girl, saying that she had to come with them. The girl nodded, and took Zelda's hand, and they left the island and went back to Hyrule. "The day's almost over," said Link sadly, looking up at the sky and watching the sun go down. "After tomorrow I will have to go back," he told his beloved girlfriend. "No, Link. You have to have faith! Without it, you will go back!" Link shook his head sadly. "We have to get to work. Tell Impa to come up here," he told her roughly, and Zelda obeyed. Impa came up a few moments later, and nearly fainted when she saw the same back of the boy she had seen so long ago. She turned to Zelda. "Is it--?" Zelda urged her to go forward, and Link turned back to her. "Yes, its me Impa. I'm back," he told her the whole story on how he had gotten back, and he told her of their plan and the finding of the girl. "Haven't you heard?" Impa enquired, facing both of them. "Ganondorf has already slaughtered three people in Kakariko Village, and he was heading toward Death Mountain the last time anyone saw of him." Link became angry. "I'll call for the girl. Muchastatto, El Littaloto Gasheela!" Which meant, "come here, little girl." The Girl appeared, and she grinned broadly at them. "Me amo Krista." She said, introducing herself as an ancient Sage named Krista. "Krista, do you understand what we're saying?" Asked Zelda hopefully. She nodded. "My name is Krista, and yes, I understand Princess Zelda." Krista turned to Link. "I'll gladly help you. I understand your situation. Call the other Sages and we'll join together," Krista urged, taking complete control of the situation. Zelda nodded in agreement, and called for all of the other Sages. Zelda, Link, and Impa all explained to the rest of the Sages. They seemed to understand perfectly well, but unfortunately, they couldn't tell the King or anyone else. Most of the Sages were very happy that Link was alive, and the female Sages would have kissed him a zillion times if they weren't in such a situation. They all slept uneasily that night, and in the morning, they all headed to Death Mountain. Except, Link went alone with Zelda by his side. The Sages would surround him whenever Link needed their help. "So, you've come back?" Asked Ganondorf, biting his lip furiously. "You were supposed to die! And, I will kill you again if I have to!" "Not while I'm here, your not!" Zelda piped up, leaping in front of Link. Ganondorf shoved her aside easily, and she fell meekly, but she was alright. Link slashed first with his sword, and the battle raged on. "You're going to die, Link, you're going to die, Link, you're going to die, Link..." Ganondorf chanted over and over and over again. Link was becoming irritated, and the chanting was unnerving him. He had to keep focused, and ignored the noise as best as he could. He pulled out his Biggoron Sword just in time, as Ganondorf sent a bolt of lightning to hit Link. Link hit it back at him, and it was like a game of catch for a few moments, until Ganondorf couldn't keep up and the bolt hit him, temporarily stunning him. Link had to work quickly if he wanted to live. He fitted a light arrow on his bow and let it fly. It hit its target true, and Link struck angrily and listened to Ganondorf groan with each blow he took. Finally, Ganondorf was no longer stunned, and he held his arms out toward Link as if he would strike at any time. They both stood there for some time, staring at eachother, waiting for their opponents blow. Ganondorf was the first to make the move, and brought his staff down toward Link, but Link held his sword diagnolly, and pushed the staff back. Link kicked Ganondorf in the stomach, and watched him fall back, with just a little damage done to him. "No matter what, I'll kill you, LINK." Ganondorf grumbled, stressing his words. "You've already done that, but it was just a fluke. Everyone knows that I'm much better than you," Link growled. He stabbed Ganondorf, but the attack didn't seem to blow over too well. He pulled out his Biggoron sword again, and Ganondorf sent the bolt at him. Link was smart enough to play catch with the lightning bolt, and watched as Ganondorf was stunned. Link shot at him with a Light Arrow, and then slashed repeatedly. The battle wasn't over yet, and ran into the next day. That night, though, both fighters came down with fatigue and didn't care if he got struck from his opponent's blow, they both decided to rest until morning. Morning came quickly, and Zelda was already up. They both rose at the same time, and fought again. Zelda counted the days. This was Link's second day, and it was up in two hours! She bit her lip nervously and prayed to the Goddesses that Link would be able to defeat Ganondorf in that time. Ganondorf struck Link, and Link fell to the ground with a gash in his side, and the warm blood oozed from his body. Ganondorf stood over him. "I guess this is how it ends," Ganondorf teased, raising his sword to destroy Link once and for all, and watched as the boy's eyes widened in terror. But Ganondorf stopped short, and Link witnessed a brown-sleeved arm grab Ganondorf's sword and prevent him from attacking. "Get up, Link! Hurry, now!" Link stood, and saw that it was Rauru holding Ganondorf back from his attack. He was thankful, as well. An hour and 58 minutes went up, and Zelda feared for the 120 seconds they had until he was gone for good. Link fitted an arrow, and then struck Ganondorf. "Hurry, SAGES! Send him to the VOID OF THE EVIL REALM!" The Sages worked as quickly as possible, and Link collapsed on the ground, sighing happily. But suddenly, he remembered that no one would remember. He stood quickly and ran over to Zelda. "How long do we have? Before I forget, and everyone else?" "A minute," Link sighed, tears forming in his eyes. "That's not enough time, that's not enough time," she whispered, pulling Link close to her and hugging him. "Krista will be sent back to the stone and only I will remember," Link replied quickly. Krista frowned, since she obviously didn't want to go back. All of the Sages said goodbye, and left. "I won't forget...I won't forget..." Said Zelda, sniffing and crying. "Its okay...at least I'll always remember...and just because we won't remember this, it doesn't mean everything is over." Link grinned, trying to cast a smile on her face. "How long do we have?" "10 seconds..." They gazed deeply into eachothers eyes, and kissed
passionately, just as time ran out. "What are you talking about? No..." "Remember, I died?" "What ON EARTH ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" Zelda asked, outraged. He grinned, realizing that only he remembered. "Um, Zelda, would you like to go to Lake Hylia with me?" "Sure," she replied, kissing him. "I love you." "I love you too," was the last he said, before pulling her closely to him, and thanking the Goddesses for allowing him to come back. THE END |
