Game Boy Player to be Included With Gamecube!

Nintendo has announced that the Game Boy Player, which will be released on June 23rd will be included with any new Gamecube purchases starting on the 23rd.  The MSRP will be $149.99, so there will be no price increase, the Game Boy Player will just be included.  For those of you who missed the earlier article about the Game Boy Player, basically it is a device that attaches to the bottom of your Gamecube and can play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games through the Gamecube, meaning that the images will show up on your TV screen.  The Gamecube controller or a Game Boy Advance (with GBA to GCN link cable) can be used to control the games.  An image of the device can be seen below.

5/13 Update

Two New Zelda Games on the Way!

At E3, Nintendo has announced two new Zelda games for Gamecube.  Before everybody gets excited, these are NOT the ultra-realistic Zelda that some people may have been expecting.  The first game is called The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Trackers and the other is The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords.  Both are coming for Gamecube, but they are each more like a mini-game than a full fledged Zelda console game.

Four Swords is similar to the game that game with the Link to the Past remake last year.  The game will appear on the TV screen and like the GBA version, up to four players can play at a time.  Rather than using the Gamecube controller, players use their Game Boy Advance units to play the game, by using the GBA to GCN link cable.  No game pack is required for the GBA, it just needs to be plugged into the Gamecube.  Players can also go into a dungeon, which will appear on their GBA screens.  Players can work together with other players to defeat enemies that will go back and forth between the TV and GBA screens, and also control enemies on the TV screen by hitting switches on the GBA screen with their swords.

Tetra's Trackers is another game based on GBA to GCN connectivity.  In this game, Tetra, the leader of the pirates puts forth a challenge for Link.  He must race through different settings to collect stamps from Tetra's pirate friends.  The stamps have to be collected in a certain order, so players have to rely on map information and hints that Tetra provides through the Pirate Charm.  Up to four players can compete to see how many stamps they can collect before time runs out.
