The Cave of No Return 

The level starts with the Links standing in front of a big door. Walk up to it, and it’ll open. Whoopee! Go inside. Head to the right, then up, until you come across a lamp. Light up the two empty stone basins above by pressing A, to open the door. From this point on, if you see any more basins, light them up too.  

In the next room, try to slash at Shadow Link, but don’t sweat it if you don’t. Light up the basins for Force Gems, and make your way to the barrier of blocks. Push the second from the right back, and go over to the corner with the rat. Push the middle block on the bottom in, then push the one next to it to the right. Beat up the rat and open the chest for Gems. Go over to where the block are… blocking the path to the ring of fire. Push the block on the far right down, and then the one next to it to the left. Push the four blocks inside into the corners to extinguish the flames. Open the now accessible chest to find a small key. Take it to the door on the right and go through.

 In this room, you’ll need at least two Links to move each small block, and all four for the large block. The blocks will only move in one direction, so if you push and it doesn’t move, try from another side. Make your way through the room to the treasure chest with the key inside, and use it on the door to the right. Here, the colored blocks can only be moved by the Link with the corresponding color. If you’re playing with more than one Link, use X (or Select) to change between your characters. The door to the next area is in the bottom right corner, you’ll need to light the two basins by it for it to open.  

To get across this room you’ll have to walk right in the middle, because on both sides of the walkway are trap doors that’ll send you down to the basement. However, there are chests with rupees and a heart container there, so you might want to fall down on purpose. When you defeat all the little green enemies, two doors will open- take the one to the right. You can break all the jars for rupees, hearts, and a fairy, but you must break the jars in the middle right section to reveal the small key.

 Take it back to the trapdoor room, and go through the door on the top. Take the key to the door at the top left, but don’t go through yet. Light the two basins, then toss a Link over to the left (With one player press X, pick up and throw another Link by pressing R, then press X to switch to that Link. With 2-4 players, just pick up another player with R and have them go to the other side). The tossed Link then needs to hit the switch, open the chest (for a blue bracelet), light the basin, and grab the Bow. Go across the new bridge and through the door at the top. 

The person with the bow will need to shoot arrows through all four fire basins to light up the rest of the room. From this point use the bow (or if you can manage to hit the switch to make the bridge you can use your sword) to take down the bats. Try and make sure that the bridge is out when you hit the last one, or you’ll loose all your Force Gems to the Big Pit of Oblivion. From there, walk across the bridge and exit the room. 

Go down the ladder and in the little maze. There will be two ways to go. If you choose the right door, you come to a room with two chests that will lead you to the next two doors. If you choose the wrong door, you’ll end up back at the start of the little maze. Once you’re through, pull the lever on the right to open the door.

 Boss: Shadow Link 

For the first part try to hit Shadow Link without getting hit by him, or blown up by one of his bombs. After a bit of that, he’ll change into a copy of one of the Links. Whichever color he chooses is the only color Link he can be attacked by. So if it’s not your Link, just try to stay out of the way. If it is yours, just continue fighting in the way you were. Soon, he’ll be defeated!

 When he’s down, a door will open at the top. Head on through, take down the barrier, and step into the lights to complete the level!
