Ganon's Tower

Walkthrough

Hi! This is A.R.S. to bring you a decent walkthrough for Zelda: Ocarina of Time (or OoT as it is lovingly abreviated to). There’s a lot of info that you probably don’t need, but just pick though it. I put in how to get a lot of the heart pieces and what not, but for a lot of things you’ll just have to go to the other sections of the site. Also, don’t use this walkthrough for the whole thing, it really spoils the story. After all, why watch a movie if you already know what happens? Use this when you’re at a complete loss. All that said, enjoy the game!

***

The story opens with a dream sequence, like many stories it seems. You wake up and Navi is with you, proclaiming herself as your new partner. (Unfortunately) She will never leave your side. Go outside, climb down the ladder. Saria, your friend, is waiting there to talk with you. You can ignore her if you wish, but she IS your friend after all…

You can't see the Deku Tree now because Mido, the self-proclaimed Kokiri leader, is blocking the path. He tells you that unless you have a Sword and Shield, you can't save the Deku Tree. You should try to find some equipment. Even though you want to knock that little snob down on his butt, there is a bit of reason in getting equiped. First, go up to the training ground. Enter the hole there. Watch out for the boulder inside, it goes around in a circle and it's probably just best to follow along BEHIND it. Now, you will find the Kokiri Sword, yay! Next, collect 40 Rupees to buy a Deku Shield. Look in patches of grass, slash bushes, anywhere, you won't have that hard of a time

With a Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield, Mido will let you enter the Deku Tree Meadow. You will see your first enemy, Deku Babas, a very pitiful enemy. Kill them to get Deku Sticks, these are just as pathetic, but they are slightly more useful then in the live state. Keep going to reach the Deku Tree. The Deku Tree will tell you he has is cursed. He asks you to break the curse and opens his mouth. What are you waiting for? Go!

THE DEKU TREE

Inside, you should see a different kind of Deku Babas, these snap at you and will knock you down if you aren’t careful. Kill this variety to get a Nut when it's down, A Stick when it's upright. Nuts can stun enemies for a brief time. Now, climb the vines. Up top, you should get the Map in the treasure chest. Now, enter the only room on this floor. Inside, you will find a Slingshot! It comes with 30 Slingshot Bullets, which is the maximum amount you can carry. Go up the vines to find a recovery heart. Now, you should check out the ladder hanging above the door. Use the Slingshot to shoot down the ladder. It will come down and you can now climb up and exit the room. Back outside, shoot down the Skullwalltuas, and climb up to the top floor. You'll run into the big brother version of the little buggers you killed earlier. Slash it with your sword when it turns its belly to you twice to kill it. Jump from a platform on the top floor, aim for the recovery heart, and onto the web below. The web will break under your weight and you crash screaming into the water of the basement!

Hit the switch on the raised platform, and the torch behind the web will burn. Use a Stick as a torch, and run across to the other section to burn the web with the door behind it. In the next room, defeat another Deku Scrub. Let him go, and he will tell you that you must defeat his brothers in the order 2-3-1. Then shoot the eye switch and the door will open. In the next room (HINT: If you ever find yourself at a loss, look for pots and shrubbery to see what they have. It's usually ammo for the wepon that you need to complete the puzzle in the room), a platform will take you across, but a rolling log is in the way. Dive down into the water and press the switch, it will be along the wall. The water will sink, along with the platform, and you can go under the log to get across. On the other side, push the crate to the high alcove and climb on it to get up to the door. In the next room, light all the torches by carrying the flame with a Stick. The door will open. In the next room, you will face Gohma Larvae, who will hatch from eggs on the ceiling. THAT IS unless you skirt around the edge of the room, they won't come after you then. There are also 2 spider webs, and a torch. Burn the second web you come to and then crawl though the passage.

You will now be on the other side where you entered the basement where you couldn't get to before. Push a crate into the stream so you cross between the sides of the room. Now, get the flame from the torch on the other side, and use a Stick to carry your fire across and roll when you get to the web. When the web burns, you fall into the sub-basement. You will see 3 Deku Scrubs. Defeat them in the order 2-3-1, just like their brother said, little coward. The door will open. When you enter, look up at the ceiling to find the first boss, 'Yo Mama!--I mean, Queen Gohma.

Ok, tell me how to squash this nasty bug...

AFTERMATH

Now, you will be transported in front of the Deku Tree. He will tell you that even though Gohma is dead, she had already done fatal damage to the Deku Tree. Before the Deku Tree passes on, he tells you that the evil man from the desert had sent Gohma to destroy him, because he refused to give the man the Kokiri Emerald. The Deku Tree gives this to you, and tells you to visit the princess at Hyrule Castle.

Right as you're leaving though the passage on the other side of the village, your best friend, Saria, gives you her Ocarina. She wants you to keep it as a tolken of her friendship. You look at her like she's some sort of monster and run. Humph, some friend you are.

HYRULE FEILD

You are stopped by a talking owl by the name of Kaepora Gaebora. Yes, a talking owl, as if the tree wasn't enough. Unfortunately, you can't kill him. You'll find out eventualy what I mean as the game progresses. Now you must journey across Hyrule Field to get to the Castle, just follow the road. The drawbridge closes at nighttime, so try to get there before then. Use the roll attack to speed things up. If you get caught outside you have the option of A) Battling these little skellitons all night for small amounts of cash. If you don't feel like doing that you B) Jump in the moat or C) Stay on the path, they can't attack you in either place.

HYRULE MARKET

Once past the bridge, you can head directly to Hyrule Castle, but there are many things to check out at Hyrule Market. Talk to the people you find to gain a little insite on what's happnin'. The mini-games are optional, but the prizes are very useful, if not difficult to get. There is a lot to do in Hyrule Market.

The last four come by on the conveyer belt. If you hit up to 8, you get a free game. If you hit all 10, you will get the Big Bullet Bag to carry up to 40 Slingshot Bullets.

Nighttime in the Market

Head up toward the Castle Grounds, wait for nighttime to come, return to the market. There are a lot of dogs wondering around. You should find a white dog by the stands under that window where the lady is standing. Now, bring it to the house in the Back Alley where the fat lady lives in one of the tenent houses. If you have the right dog, you will get a Heart Piece!

At nighttime, the Treasure Chest Game is open.

Pay 10 Rupees, and you can play. In each room, there are 2 chests. One has a key to the next room, and one doesn't. If you get to the final room, you will find a Heart Piece. With 5 rooms, you only have a 1/10 chance of winning, so you should skip it now and come back once you have the Lens of Truth. Winning gets you a Heart Piece in the final room.

Places you can't get to quite yet, but you should come back to later:

The Mask of Truth also cannot be sold, while wearing it you can talk to gossip stones to learn little tid-bits of info

Bombchu Bowling

For thirty rupees you get 10 bombchus--or 10 chances--to guide the mobilized bomb into the target hole, each getting farther away and having more obsticals with each sucsessful hit. The prizes include a heart piece, a bomb bag upgrade, bombchus and bombs.

Bombchu Shop

Man are these things high-dollar! It's 80 rupees for 10 and 120 for 20. Once the dude is out, that’s it, no more in stock. Located in the Back Ally.

HYRULE CASTLE

Getting to see Princess Zelda is easy--if you know where to go. After listening to the "damn owl" climb up the vines, travel across the green and jump down on the other side. Walk up to one of the guards. He'll blow his whistle and toss you out on your butt. Go back. Malon, the girl that was by the well in the Market, should be there this time. She will tell you her father, Talon, owns Lon Lon Ranch, and he went to deliver milk to the castle and that he hasen't come back yet. She will ask you to take care of an Egg she was hatching. When morning comes, the Egg will hatch into a Chicken! Mmmmmm-Mmmm! BBQ wings! Oh, sorry, you can't eat it quite yet, there's something you gotta do with it.

In the meantime, climb up the vines on the hill again. Walk until you see the stone bridge, and jump off it. Now, follow the path, avoiding the guards. If they catch you, you'll be out on your butt again. When you see 2 guards in front of you, run up the hill. Go straight until you see a rugged stone wall on the side of a hill. Then, climb up, jump off and dive into the moat. Swim until you see a raised area. Go up, and you should see Talon, who is sleeping. If it hasn't already, wait for the Chicken to hatch. Use it to wake him up. He will realize he left Malon waiting, and high-tail it out of there.

See the crudely drawn map to help you.

Now that he's out of the way, push the crates into the moat. Climb on them, and jump into the alcove across. Now, crawl into the drainpipe. You will emerge inside the Castle Courtyard Maze. In here, guards are all over, oy! It needs to be daylight for you to be able to traverse the maze, otherwise some guards will be waiting for you if you come in the night. Sorry, guess you'll just have to wait for sun-up.

In the first part, hide behind a bush until the guard is on the right corridor, and run through the left. In the second, wait until the guards stop to each other, then dash past them. The third part is easy, walk on the platform above the guard, or just wait till he's on the other side and go past on the path. The fourth is tricky. Wait till one guard is in the top corridor, and one in the right. Now, run halfway through the left. When the guards change position, dash into the next part. Here, wait until the guards are on the opposite of you. Stay near the corners, and move as soon as the guards do!

Finally, you should be in the Castle Courtyard. Go ahead to see Princess Zelda. She tells you some important stuff, try not to fall asleep. You also catch a glimpse of Ganondorf, he looks remarkably like the guy in the dream you had and the guy the deku tree showed you before he kicked the bucket. She also tells you that the Triforce is hidden in the Sacred Realm, and the only way to get it is to collect 3 Spiritual Stones from the Kokiri, Goron, and Zora races, and play the Song of Time with the Ocarina of Time. She then says she believes Ganondorf wants to get the Triforce, and that you must prevent him from getting it. She gives you a Letter, for no apparent reason I guess. It replaces the chicken as the new event item. No BBQ wing for you! Her attendant Impa then appears. Wow, I have never seen a Nany look like that. She teaches you a new Ocarina song, Zelda's Lullaby, then leads you out of the castle. Before you go to Death Mountain, though, you'll go though Kakariko village…

SIDE-QUESTS IN KAKARIKO VILLAGE (Optional)

Before you go, there's is some stuff to do. The town is undergoing construction, but the carpenters are too lazy to do anything. Their boss is very upset about this, and thinks they’re useless idiots…Which they are.

House of Skulltula.

The people there have been cursed to look like spiders. The only way to free them is to collect 100 Gold Tokens, by destroying 100 Gold Skulltulas, you should have already got some from your jorney. You get stuff for every person healed:

10=Adult Wallet----can hold 200 Rupees

20=Stone of Agony----shakes (if you have a rumble pack) when a secret is nearby

30=Giant Wallet----can hold 500 Rupees

40=10 Bombchus----Bombs that run around until they explode

50=Heart Piece

All 100=200 Rupees every time you talk to the man in the center that was healed.

A lady in the village is missing 7 of her chickens. When you find one throw it into the fenced area by the house. One is next to the coop, one is in a box (roll-attack into it), one by the village entrance, and one is near the Death Mt. gate. If you hold a chicken and jump off a ledge, you can glide for a little bit, depending at what hight you jumped from. First, go around the bricks, and use the chicken to fly you to the ledge by the house of Skulltula. You will find another chicken there. Next, use one to fly you over the fence by the windmill onto the landing. You will find the last 2 there. If they are all returned, the lady will give you the 1st Bottle.

Give Zelda's Letter to the guard at the Death Mt. gate. He will open the gate, and tell you to buy a Hylian Shield, if you tell the Bazaar Owner you know the guard you'll get a 20 Rupee discount. Don't though, later you can get one absolutely free. He'll also ask you to get him a mask from the shop in the Market. Go to the Market, and visit the Happy Mask Shop. The Mask Man will ask you if you want to be a Mask Salesman. Say yes, and he will ask you to sell the Keaton Mask. Go back to the guard and he will buy the mask for 15 Rupees. Go back to the Mask Shop and pay back 10 Rupees. Next, the Mask Man will tell you to sell the Skull Mask. You will sell this later.

SIDE-QUESTS IN LON LON RANCH (Optional)

You should also visit Lon Lon Ranch. Inside the stable is the stable hand, Ingo. He complains he has to do all the work on the Ranch because of Talon's laziness, and one day he plans to take over the ranch. Riiiiigggghhhtt, you say, grumpy old drunkard…

Talon will challenge you to a chicken-finding mini-game. It costs 10 Rupees for the first try, and 5 for any tries after. Talon will throw 3 Super-Chickens into the flock, and you must find them from among the normal ones in 30 seconds. However, before you play, throw all the regular into the place between the table he's against and the stairs. This makes things a lot easier. When you win, Talon will give you the 2nd Bottle, and in it, some Milk, You can pay 30 Rupees for a refill, though this is rather pointless since, again, you can get almost anything for free. Plus nothing is as good as a fairy.

Most importantly, go to the corral, and talk to Malon twice. She will show you her favorite horse, Epona, but Epona is scared of you. Play your Ocarina with her and she will teach you Epona's Song. Play it in the ranch, and Epona will run toward you. It doesn‘t seem to do you much good now but be paitent, OK? Also, play it near cows to get milk.

THE LOST WOODS

You should now head back to the forest. Enter the tunnel on top of the hill. You are now in the Lost Woods, a maze-like area. In each part, there are 4 tunnels. If you go down the wrong one, you end up back in the Kokiri Forest. In the first room, there are 2 paths to take, left and right. For now, go right. In this room, there is a lot to do.

First, there is a target hanging from the tree. Shoot the center 3 times, and a Deku Scrub appears, who gives you the Biggest Bullet Bag which can hold 50 bullets! Next, there are 2 Skullkids on the log. Stand on the stump and play your Ocarina. They will ask you to follow along with their song. If you win they will give you prizes. First win, 1 rupee. Second, 5 Rupees. Third, a Heart Piece!

Next, you should go left. By now you are halfway through the woods. The owl will come and tell you to follow the melody. In this room you will begin to hear a tune. Follow it to reach the Sacred Forest Meadow. There is also a tunnel here. It leads to Goron City, but boulders block the path. You'll have to come back when you get Bombs. Anyway, even though you can just follow the tune, I'll still tell you which way to go.

Go right. In here, there is a pond. Once you have the Silver Scale, you can dive to the bottom and through the warp to Zora's River. Now go left. In this room, like the first one, there are 2 ways to go. You can go to the center, but you should go left first.

There are 2 Business Scrubs here. They are like normal Deku Scrubs, except when you defeat them, instead of giving you tips, they sell you stuff, at super high prices. Anyway, head to the grass, and you will fall in a hole. Inside, you will be in the Forest Stage. If you have the Skull Mask, wear it. Deku Scrubs will come and give you the ability to carry up to 20 Sticks. Wonderful.

Go back to the room before this one. Go through the center tunnel. Now go left then right. Congratulations, you made it! You are now in the Sacred Forest Meadow. There is a gate blocking you. Go near it, and a Wolfos will appear! This enemy is tough, as it uses its claws as both sword and shield. When you defeat it, the gate opens. Inside, you will be in a small set of corridors. You will encounter another type of Deku Scrub, Mad Scrub. Unlike its somewhat friendly cousins, once you hit it, it will still attack you. Unlike the others, you should not spare this one's life, just kill it with your sword. When you make it through the corridors, you will find Saria. She will teach you her song. This magic song lets you telepathically speak to Saria, no matter where you are. It‘s a nice tune, catchy.

Before you leave the Lost Woods, you should go back to the beginning room and this time, go left. You will see a Skullkid. Play Saria's Song to it, and it will give you a Heart Piece. Next, show it the Skull Mask, and it will buy it. Unfortunately, he only paid you 5 Rupees for a 20-rupee mask! You'll have to pay most of it yourself. When you go back to the Mask Shop, you can get the Spooky Mask. Now, go right, and you will be under the bridge that goes out of the forest. You can find a Business Scrub there who will offer to give you the ability to carry 30 Deku Sticks for 40 Rupees. I suggest you take it, though.

SIDE-QUESTS IN THE GRAVEYARD (Optional)

Now that you have Saria's Song, you should go up Death Mountain. But first, you should make a stop in the Graveyard east of Kakariko Village.

If you go at night, you can finally meet Dampe the Gravedigger. He will challenge you to a Gravedigging game. While he walks around the Graveyard, you tell him when to dig. It's 10 Rupees per hole. The trick is to make him dig on the dirt, not the pavement. While it may take a while, eventually you will find a Heart Piece. It's at a different location every time, so keep trying.

At the back of the Graveyard, you will see 3 tombstones. If you touch the smaller ones, two funny looking ghosts (poes) will come out. Once you beat them, they will tell you their story. They were composers and sorcerers, who made 2 songs to control time. Ganondorf wanted this power, and had them killed (are we suspecting a trend here?). They said they put the melody on the royal family tombstone, now sealed deep underground. Only members of the Royal Family can get in.

Play Zelda's Lullaby on the royal family crest. Lightning will strike a grave, causing it to shatter to pieces, revealing a hidden hole underneath. Jump in, and kill all the Keese bats in the first room. One is right near where you enter hanging from the ceiling, one is on the right wall behind the dripping water, and 2 more are near those steps. The door will open. Inside are Redeads and acid pits. If a Redead grabs you, it will bite you until they have sucked up all your life. It’s hard to escape their grip, and their ability to stun you makes things even worse. Plus they’re just plain icky. It’s easier to jump into the pits of acid to get across, even if you do loose a little life in the process.

Once you get across, you will find the royal tombstone on it is the melody to the Sun Song. When you first play it, you will go forward in time from day to night or night to day. When you play this again above ground, you will rush ahead in time a few hours. If you play it again underground, it will cause light to shine upon you. Now see if you can make it out of the royal tomb alive. Redeads are weak to light, and what can you do to bring light? Does it get anymore obvious? Once you use light to stun the Redeads, run away before they wake up.

You can also get interesting stuff in the graves. In the one with flowers in the first row, pull it to enter a tomb. You can get a Hylian Shield inside. Don’t equip it quite yet though. Also, you can find another tomb under the glowing grave in the back row. Play the Sun Song on the platform too not only stun the Redead, but get a Heart Piece as well!

GORON CITY

Finally, head up Death Mountain. If you haven't already given the letter to the guard, do so now. About halfway up, you will see a boulder and a Goron. Gorons are the rock-people of the mountain. They look kinda funny and are pretty stupid. The Goron will tell you that the boulder blocks a cavern. Go up the mountain more, and soon you will reach Goron City. There's not much to do in Goron City now anyway. A Goron will tell you the problems that have happened. Since Goron's eat rocks, their main food source is the cavern at the bottom of Death Mountain. However, when the Gorons refused to give Ganondorf the 2nd Spiritual Stone, the Goron's Ruby, he sent an ancient creature, Dodongo, to infest the cavern. On top of that, he sealed the entrance with a boulder.

Head down to the bottom floor. There will be a carpet in front of a door. Play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the door. It will open. Inside is Darunia, King of the Gorons. He doesn’t look as gullible or nearly as friendly as his subjects, kinda looks like he’ll break your neck if you try anything funny. He’s pissed because of the recent events. Play Saria's Song and he’ll dance around for a while (not to mention scare the bajezus outta ya). He asks of your help to clear out Dodongo's Cavern. He also gives you the Goron Bracelet, witch is kind of like a miniature gauntlet. With it, you can lift up rocks and bomb flowers. With Bomb Flowers, you can blow up muddy-looking walls and huge rocks that have cracks in them. Be careful, though, Bomb Flowers explode a few seconds after you pick them up.

Now you can explore Goron City more. First, you can use a Bomb Flower to blow up the rock blocking the entrance to the Goron Shop. However, they are out of Bombs since the cavern is the source of bombs, as well as food. You can also use a Bomb Flower to blow up the rocks blocking the tunnel on the 2nd floor. With them out if the way, the tunnel to the Lost Woods is open. If you bomb a series of walls on the 3rd floor, you will find a huge Goron named Medigoron. He is working on a super-weapon that won't be done for 5 years. Wonderfully helpful, eh?

When you exit Goron City, go under the tunnel. Find the fence over the cavern. There is a Bomb Flower near the fence. Throw it over, and it will land in front of the boulder! When it explodes, Dodongo's Cavern is free to enter. You can also do a backward flip over that area of the fence to land on a ledge where you can get a Heart Piece.

DODONGO'S CAVERN

Inside Dodongo's Cavern, use a bomb flower to blow up the wall and enter the main room. Jump over the rising platforms to avoid the burning rock underneath. First, go to the platform to the left. Use Bomb Flowers to blast the cracked wall and get a map. Next, go right, and blow up the walls there. In one you will find a Gossip Stone, in another a door to the next room. In the next room, you will meet Baby Dodongos. The li’ buggars will leap at you at the first chance. Just run for your life to that ledge at the far end of the hall. Now, go up to the switch. The door won't stay open unless you stand on it. Push the statue on to the switch, and enter through the door. Pass through the hall, avoiding Keese. In the next room, you will meet a 2 Lizalfos. They will hop from the platforms over the lava, and if you fall in, they will do whatever they can to keep you there. Use the Shield to cover yourself, and when they drop their guard, jab at them. When they die, go into the next room. Light the torches, and watch out for Junior Dodongos. These are bigger than the babies, and can shoot fire. In the next room, press the switch and the door in the main room will open. Jump off the ledge back to the main room.

With the door open, you can explore some more. In the next room, use the Bomb Flower to blow up the wall. Go into the newly opened room. When you get the Compass, you can't escape until you defeat Armos. Like Baby and Junior Dodongos, it will go kamikaze when hurt. Now, take the Bomb Flower again, and plant it between all the others on the ledge. They will all explode, causing the stairway to come down. Climb up, and get the Gold Skulltula in the web. Then enter the door and kill the Fire Keese. Find the statue blocking a ladder and push it, the others are Armos. Press the switch, and go through the door. You will be on a bridge way over the main room. Go across, and enter the room on the other side. Go through these corridors until you see a crate. Use it to climb up to the platform. Throw the Bomb Flower so it lands on the ledge across you. When it blows up, go into the next room. Now, shoot the eye switch to put out the flames. In the next room, you must defeat 2 more Lizalfos. Only this time, you won't fall in lava; you'll fall down back to the first floor! Once you finish, you must brave another room with eye switches.

When you go through these rooms, you will be on top of the corridors. You will find 20 Bombs in it! Now you can play pyrotechnic! 20 is the maximum you can hold for now. Go through the door, and you will be at the highest part of the main room. Press the switch, and the platform will provide easy access between floors. Jump onto the giant skull, and plant bombs in its eye sockets. Its jaw will drop, and a new passage will open. Another switch will be there. Like the 1st one, you need something to push onto it. Climb up into the corridors. Anyway, go through another corridor. Push the crate off the ledge onto the switch. In the next room, bomb the floor to create a hole. Before you drop down, open the chest to get some extra bombs. Also, make sure to equip the Hylain Shield. Now drop down the hole to find the second boss.

Ok, tell me how to knock his punk-@$$ out!

NOW GIVE ME THAT RUBY…

Now the cavern is cleared, and the Gorons can eat all the rocks they want. Oh goodie. They can also mine bombs from the cavern, so they will be in stock at the Goron Shop and the Bazaar. As a reward for this, Darunia comes and gives you the Goron's Ruby. One more stone to collect! He also makes you a sworn brother of the Gorons, pounds you into the ground, then all the Gorons try to hug you. You exit screaming.

SIDE-QUESTS WITH BOMBS

Now that you have bombs, you can complete a few side-quests. First, go back to Goron City. On the 3rd floor, use bombs to stop Roller Goron. The catch is you must stop him while in the tunnel. When you succeed, he will give you the Big Bomb Bag to hold up to 30 bombs! This is useful for the next side-quests.

Also, use a Stick to carry the flame from Darunia's Room to all the torches in the main room. The Goron Vase will spin around. Throw a bomb in, and a prize will be blasted out. The prize depends on what face on the vase faces you. If the sad face faces you, Rupees will pop out. If the normal face faces you, Bombs will pop out. If the happy face faces you, a Heart Piece will pop out.

Next, go up Death Mountain. Use Bombs to get rid of the rocks in the way. You’ll have to wait and throw the bomb so it explodes in mid-air for one of them. You can go see the cow grotto too. Now run past the section with the falling rocks. Climb up the ladder, and you're at the Death Mountain Summit. The owl will be there, but you don‘t have to talk to him yet. There are 2 ways to go, into the crater or into the Fairy Fountain. If you enter the crater, you will find the heat unbearable. To get to the Fairy Fountain, bomb the wall outside the summit. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce mark. The Great Fairy (…That’s a fairy? What happened to the ‘fair‘ part?) will give you Magic Power. She also teaches you the Spinning Sword Slash.

Go back outside. The owl will give you a ride down the mountain. You will land on top of Impa's House in Kakariko Village. Jump onto the ledge to your right. Enter the house through the back door. Inside you will get a Heart Piece!

The Bombchu Bowling alley is now open. You must pay 30 Rupees for the game, and once you do a prize is randomly selected. You can play for 5 prizes. Aside from extra Bombs, Bombchus, and Rupees, you can win the Biggest Bomb Bag, which can carry up to 40 Bombs, or even get a Heart Piece! To play, you must send Bombchu at an angle where it will go into the hole. The wall then blows up, opening another hole to get Bombchu into. When you blow up all 3 walls, the prize appears. You should probably get some Bombchus now. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Plus, they’ll help you on the way to getting that last Stone.

Finally, on the Castle Grounds, bomb the boulder at the Dead End. You will find another Fairy Fountain inside. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce mark. Another Great Fairy will give you Din's Fire, which causes a huge fireball to explode around you. Quite nifty, uses magic.

ZORA'S DOMAIN

Now starts your quest for the last Spiritual Stone. Go to Zora's River. The owl will talk to you, and tell you a few secrets about the river. When he leaves, bomb the rocks out of the way, and you can now enter Zora's River.

A little further down, there is a man selling Magic Beans. Buy as many as you can. You should also come back as soon as you get more money, as the Magic Beans are very useful. The Magic Bean seller can plant the first Magic Bean right here, at the dirt patch. There are others spots all around Hyrule, you might have seen one near the entrance of the cavern or in the forest. These will sprout later for cool results.

Now, use the chicken near the rocks to glide across the river. I am not sure if you can make it across without the chicken, but if you fall in the river, the current takes you back to Hyrule Field. I suggest you keep the chicken, it is helpful for getting some Heart Pieces. Go up some more, fly across the stream, go up the elevated platform, glide to the ledge, and as soon as you get to the ledge, drop the chicken. Climb onto the ledge, jump across, and get a Heart Piece. When you reach the waterfall, use the chicken to glide from the hill to the platform with another Heart Piece. At the bottom of the waterfall you will see a ladder.

Go to the top of the hill near the waterfall, and play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce mark. The waterfall will open up and you can reach the cave behind it. Inside is Zora's Domain, home of the Zoras. In Zora's Domain, there is much to do.

If you talk to King Zora, he will tell you he is upset over his missing daughter, Ruto. Go left from his chamber, and a Zora there will ask if you want to play the diving game for 20 Rupees. The object is to get all Rupees the Zora throws into the pond. When you win, the Zora gives you the Silver Scale, which lets you dive 6 meters. With the Silver Scale, you can dive to find many things you couldn't before. You can dive and get to the tunnel near the waterfall outside Zora's Domain to get to the Lost Woods easier. You can also dive through the tunnel under the waterfall in Zora's Domain to get to Lake Hylia easier. Now is a good time to visit Lake Hylia. You may notice an odd item in the water. Use the Silver Scale to get it. It turns out to be the 3rd bottle. Inside is a letter from Princess Ruto. Later, you can give it to King Zora.

SIDE-QUESTS IN LAKE HYLIA (Optional)

For now, there is some stuff to do at Lake Hylia. First, talk to the scarecrows by the sand, Pierre and Bonnuru. Play a song for Bonnuru, and he will promise to remember it. You remember it too, might want to write it down. This "Scarecrow Song" is useful for later.

The best thing to do here is visit the Fishing Pond. For 20 Rupees, you can fish as much as you want. The current fishing record is 6 pounds. If you catch a fish that breaks the current record of 6 pounds, you'll get 50 Rupees. If you catch a fish 10 or more pounds, you can get a Heart Piece. Fishing takes a long time though, so don't hold your breath. The longer the fish is on the line, the less it’ll weigh. The largest fish is near that log that sticks out of the water some. He’s hard to entice, though, so don’t get your hopes up.

Exit Lake Hylia, take the ladder out, walk around the walkway, go to the fenced area, and climb over the low, white, fence. If you got the Stone of Agony and a rumble pack, it’ll vibrate when you get near the center. Bomb the center of the fenced area, and enter the cave. The Business Scrub will sell you a Heart Piece for 10 Rupees.

Return to Zora's Domain, and use a Stick to carry the flame from King Zora's chamber to the torch at the bottom of the stairs. Then carry it to all the torches on the bottom floor. The first by the Zora Shop, second up ahead, and third behind the waterfall. When you light them all, a Heart Piece will appear. Don't forget, the Stick will burn if you have it lit to long, and will burn out if you take it in water. You need to roll to make it in time.

INSIDE JABU-JABU'S BELLY

When you return to Zora's Domain, give the letter in the bottle to King Zora. The letter says that Princess Ruto has been swallowed by the Zora's Guardian Jabu-Jabu. King Zora tells you that recently, Jabu-Jabu has been feeling sick, and asks you to rescue Ruto. He will then let you enter Zora's Fountain. Before you go, catch a Fish in a bottle. You can find one outside the Zora Shop, or buy one there for 200 Rupees. It's your choice. At Zora's Fountain, I suggest you swim to the small island at the other side. You will find another Fairy Fountain inside. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce mark. The Great Fairy will give you Farore's Wind, which lets you create warp points in dungeons. Finally, head to the platform in front of Jabu-Jabu. Feed him a fish. He will eat it and you with it! Now prepare for a long journey through a fish's belly.

You start in its mouth. Continue into its throat. Right between the mouth and throat, look up and you will see a yellow thing. Use your Slingshot to hit it and it will cause the door to open. Go around the platforms, avoiding the Biri. Go through the door to find Princess Ruto. She doesn't want your help and walks away, but accidentally falls down a pit. Jump after her. Continue speaking to her until she lets you carry her to safety.

Pick her up, and go right. Go through the tunnel. Throw Ruto at the yellow switch to open the door. This next room is tricky. The water begins at minimum level, leaving no way to cross to the high cliff on the other side. The switch can raise the water level, but if Ruto falls in the water, she will leave and you'd have to go back to the main room to get her again. So, before you turn on the switch, throw Ruto up to cliff. Then press the switch so you can get to the cliff. When you're up the cliff, continue on until you get to the rising platform. Use it to take Ruto back to the top floor.

From here on, if you lose Ruto, she will stay where you left her. Go past the room with the holes. You should be in a room with Tailparasans and 3 tunnels. 2 of these later split into 2 more tunnels, leaving 5 in all. First, go into the right tunnel. The switch requires 2 people's weight to open, so hold Ruto and you're combined weight pushes the switch down. Enter the room, and defeat the Stingers. This is really easy if you have those bombchus. Just Z-target and let em fly! You will get the Boomerang.

Now go to the left passageway. When you reach the switch, it won't stay down, so drop Ruto on it. Enter the room, and use the boomerang to defeat the Red Tentacle by shooting its narrow point. You will get the map. Go into the northern left passage. In here, you must take down all the Bubbles in 40 seconds. When you do, you will get the Compass. Next, go to the northern right passage, since the Red Tentacle is no longer blocking here. Defeat the Blue Tentacle here to stop it from blocking the center passage. In here, 4 Biri protects a Green Tentacle. Destroy them with the Boomerang, and then do the same to the Green Tentacle. Now, go into the main room and drop into the hole previously guarded by the Green Tentacle, and make sure to take Ruto. At the bottom are 2 Gold Skulltulas and a door. Get the Gold Skulltulas with the Boomerang. Next, enter the next room. The Zora's Sapphire is on the pedestal. Throw Ruto up to it. She gets it, but then the platform rises up. It comes back down, but instead of Ruto, say hello to Bigocto!

BIGOCTO

This, my friends, is what we would call a mini boss, a monster to warm you up for what’s ahead. Bigocto will run/you run after him in a circle around a disk of spinning spikes. Obviously, touching the spikes will yeild painful results. Run around as close as you can though, so you can gain on this thing. If you go too close he’ll burrow underground and run you over from behind. Z-target and hit him with the Boomerang again while his back is toward you. Now you can clearly see his weak point, his large, glowing @$$. Hit him there with a sword (ouch) then run and he starts spinning again. If at any time the spikes in the center stop and reverse direction, you do the same. After you repeat this 5 times, Bigocto is gone. The platform comes down, letting you climb up.

You will rise to the top. Ruto, of course, wandered away. Go into the next room, there will be 2 blobs. Use the Boomerang to stun them, and hop on top of them to the next room. In here, get onto the platform, and it will go down to the room with the curved floor. However, together with the new platform, there is a circular walkway around the room. You can now enter a new room, but the door is locked. The switch won't stay down, and Ruto is not here. Use the crates to push the switch down. In the next room, you can find a lot of Biri. Use the Boomerang to get the Gold Skulltula on the vines. Now climb up the vines, and use the Boomerang to hit the yellow switch. Go into the door that opens for the next boss...

Holy Crap! How am I supposta beat THAT?!

OK, NOW THAT I’M COVERED IN SQUID GUTS…

Ruto will be there, but she's upset at how long saving her took. However, when you land back in Zora's Fountain, Ruto finally admits you are a great hero, and kinda cute (Aww..). She gives you the Zora's Sapphire, and something about it being an engagement ring…? Whatever. More importantly, though, you collected all 3 Spiritual Stones! Ok! Time to go back to that chick in the castle!

MORE SIDE-QUESTS (Optional)

Now that you have the Boomerang, you can collect more Skulltula tokens. You should also plant Magic Beans.

In the Graveyard, there is another dirt patch. For yet another time, plant a Magic Bean so it can sprout later, and a Bug so a Gold Skulltula comes. Another Gold Skulltula is at the wall near the 3rd row of graves. Use the Boomerang to get it. Near the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern, there is a dirt patch. Once again, plant a Magic Bean so it can sprout later, and a Bug so a Gold Skulltula comes. Seeing a pattern here?

Even Hyrule Field has its share of things to do. North of the entrance to Kakariko Village, there is a tree. Place a Bomb, and drop into the cave. Inside, you can find a Gold Skulltula. Also, near the entrance to Gerudo Valley, there is a circle of stones around a Boulder. Bomb the Boulder, and another hole opens. Inside you can find another Gold Skulltula.

Don't forget the path around Hyrule Field. This part is hard. I suggest you get the Giant Wallet by getting 30 Gold Skulltulas before you try this. There is a Running Man jogging on the path going around Lon Lon Ranch. The easiest way to find him is to stand on one spot on the path, and wait. When you encounter him, follow him until night falls, and he will stop and rest. Now show him the Bunny Hood. Even though it's only 50 Rupees, he will pay you as much as your wallet can hold! If you have the Giant Wallet you can get up to 500 Rupees!

Go to the Mask Shop and pay back the 50 Rupees for the Bunny Hood. Now, you can get any mask you want, including 4 new ones! There are the Goron, Zora, and Gerudo masks, which trigger funny responses if you show them to the corresponding race. There is also the Mask of Truth, which lets you talk to the Gossip Stones around Hyrule.

You should also visit the Lost Woods. By the Kokiri Shop, there is another dirt patch. In the room under the bridge, there is another dirt patch and yet another in the room by the forest stage. For all 3 patches, plant a Magic Bean so it can sprout later, and a Bug so a Gold Skulltula comes. Speaking of the forest stage, wear the Mask of Truth, and the Deku Scrubs will let you carry up to 30 Deku Nuts. If you bomb the Boulder by the entrance to the Sacred Forest Meadow, you can pay Business Scrub 40 Rupees to let you carry up to 40 Deku Nuts.

Gerudo Valley is another place to see. At night, you can get a Gold Skulltula by the plank over the pond. Use the Boomerang to get it. If you've never visited Gerudo Valley before, now is the time. You can't go past the gate to Gerudo Fortress, and no way in as a kid. Anyway, take the chicken, go to the bridge over the canyon, and use it to float down to the platform right of the bridge. There is a Gerudo, a cow, and a dirt patch. Yet again, plant a Magic Bean so it can sprout later, and a Bug so a Gold Skulltula comes. If you keep going right until the waterfall, you can climb up the ladder to get a Heart Piece. If you go in the river, the current will take you to Lake Hylia. At the island between the 2 bridges, the owl will come and offer you a ride to Hyrule Castle.

THE TEMPLE OF TIME

With 3 Spiritual stones in hand, go to Hyrule Castle. At the drawbridge, Zelda and Impa will ride out on a horse. Zelda, with her impeccable aim and skill, throws the Ocarina of Time toward you, misses, and it falls into the moat. Ganondorf comes on this awesome horse. Ahhh, so he is a bad guy, a show of hands for those that saw that coming! Anyway, he asks you where Zelda went. When you don't answer, Ganondorf does this magic thingy at you that knocks you on your butt then and rides off in pursuit. Now, get the Ocarina of Time from the river. This replaces the ocarina Saria gave you. It’s really no different from the last one other then the fact that it’s supposed to have magical powers and Zelda will have left a pre-recorded telepathic message on it (Yes, Miss Cleo…). She tells you to go to the Temple of Time, and use the Spiritual Stones and Ocarina of Time. She will then teach you the Song of Time.

So while you’re wondering what’s with all this ’Time’ stuff, go to the Temple of Time, and sing it in front of the altar. The Spiritual Stones will lift into the altar, and part of the wall will open. Enter through into the next room to find the Master Sword. Pick it up, and the portal to the Sacred Realm will open. Ganondorf will appear, and say that he knew all along that you had the keys to the Sacred Realm. He then thanks you, as the Triforce belongs to him, and soon, all of Hyrule.

…Are we feeling stupid yet?

Then, everything blacks out...
